The 9th grade English classes read the Shakespearean play Romeo and Juliet during the spring. They completed a variety of activities with this piece of literature and one of the last activities was to create a “Character Autopsy.” The students were given 5-6 feet of white paper and they were instructed to draw out the body of a character and then proceed to discuss various body parts and how they related to the text with providing textual evidence and then an analysis or connection. A great way to reflect upon a character!

After spending all spring helping the Rainbow Trout grow from eggs, to sac fry, to fingerlings, Mrs. Ziccardi's 7th grade class, with the help of Mr. Rager's Life Skills Class and Mrs. Royer's Life Skills class, released 138 trout into Little Fishing Creek in Snydertown. Through the Fish and Boat Commission's Trout in the Classroom program, the students learned about cold water ecosystems and the fish that call them home. The classes finally got to head out to the stream to not only release the trout, but also do a stream exploration looking for other creatures that live in the cold water (about 55 degrees F...brrrrrr). They then got to head to the federal hatchery in Lamar to do some fishing themselves with Ms. MacMath's class! The students caught some real whoppers! After lunch they got a tour of the state hatchery in Tylersville to see how fish just like the ones they cared for are grown, cultivated, and stocked in our local streams. It is always a favorite day for all involved. Thank you so much to A Hundred Women Who Care, as well as the Spring Creek Trout Unlimited, for supporting this project at BAMS.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025 Valedictorian, Annie Cernuska, and Salutatorian, Allison Nicholls! They will both be speaking at the Graduation Ceremony on June 7th.

4th grade held their 9th and Final Wax Museum at Bellefonte Elementary on May 22, 2025. The students chose a person who achieved something great and is no longer living. They spent weeks researching this person and wrote a biography. To prepare for the museum, students brought in activation buttons, costumes and props related to their person. They also created a script that gave the highlights of the person's life. To wrap up the activity, students, teachers, parents and family members came to walk through the museum and learn about these extraordinary people.
