Yesterday, all BAHS juniors and seniors traveled all over Centre County (and beyond) to volunteer their help for the annual United Way Day of Caring. Groups of students traveled to 18 different locations. They completed jobs such as weeding, mulching, picking up trash, raking leaves, building benches, mowing, picking apples, washing windows, washing vehicles, cleaning graves, and so much more! DOC is a great day for students to learn and apply volunteer work, network with others, and time to experience camaraderie. Great job to everyone involved, and thank you to the organizations that allowed these young men and women to attend their areas to volunteer!

In September, the 9th grade ELA classes wrote 6 word memoirs and chalked them out on the sidewalks for the students at staff at BAHS to read as they left and entered the building. A six-word memoir is a micro-autobiography that tells a story or captures the essence of a life or personal experience using exactly six words.

The Empty Place at the Table display provided by Centre Safe is now in the high school library. It will be in the library for the whole month of October for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It is a representation of actual victims of domestic violence in Centre County.

On September 2nd, the Class of 2026 participated in a Senior Sunrise event. Seniors were invited to Rogers Stadium for breakfast and to hangout with friends as the sun rose on their senior year. Such a magical way to start the beginning of senior year for these young men and women!

We appreciate our School Resource Officers! In September, our SROs have been out and about within our schools. One picture shows Officer Rossman making new friends at Bellefonte Elementary. And another photo is a State Police Officer and Officer Gaus keeping students safe at Marion Walker.

This past year, nine students at BAHS earned seals of biliteracy in a language. A Seal of Biliteracy means that an individual has attained a certain level of proficiency in two or more languages. What an exceptional achievement for these young men and women!
