Eighth grade student, Addison Wynkoop, is an amazing young woman with a gift for singing. She had a lead role in the BAMS Drama performance of the Newsies last spring and she is often entering into contests to challenge and grow her ability to sing and perform. Recently, Addy entered the Hammerstein International Youth Solo Contest and won! By winning, Addy was given a 1:1 session with a Broadway Teaching Artist, a professional recording of her singing the song “I Cain’t Say No” from Oklahoma, and the opportunity to attend the benefit gala that would also include many Broadway stars. You can read about Addy’s experience here: https://www.basd.net/article/1857789

Bellefonte Area School District would like to highlight a recent new hire: Hope Weaver! Hope is a first shift custodian at Bellefonte Area Middle School. Here is a little information on Hope: What is something you are passionate about outside of work? I am passionate about spending time with my family and my fiancé and his family. Who would you choose if you could pick 1 person (living or not living) to have dinner with? I would have to say my dad. He’s been gone almost 8 years and would love just to have dinner with him one more time. Using 3 different adjectives, describe yourself in 3 words. Loyal, sarcastic, honest What is the best piece of advice someone has ever given you? Be the person you want to be and not the person everyone wants you to be. Be yourself. Why did you choose BASD? Well my Uncle Denny Weaver has been telling me for a few years that I needed to apply and when some things changed in my life I decided it was time to take a chance. I felt so welcomed since I started and made a few new friends along the way. We hope that you enjoyed learning about Hope Weaver! BASD is very excited to have her on our staff.

Students made sketchbooks to record their day...sketched everywhere! We had docent-lead tours of portions of their collection. Ended our day at the Creamery. Gorgeous weather, great information, and fantastic students!
