Dear BAMS Families,
The BAMS Student Council is organizing a Food Drive to support families in our own community who may be impacted by the recent government shutdown. Our goal is to help ensure that everyone has what they need during this time — right here at BAMS.
🗓 When: November 3rd–November 14th
📍 Where: Students can drop donations off each morning in the Chill Zone from 7:30–7:55 a.m.
We are collecting non-perishable canned and boxed goods. Please be sure to check expiration dates and avoid sending any damaged cans or boxes.
💙 A Fun Incentive:
Student Council will be tracking donations by homeroom! The homeroom that collects the most items will win a morning donut party as a thank you for their generosity.
All collected items will go directly to BAMS or BASD families in need — not to an outside organization. After the food drive ends, Student Council will spend time packing bags and boxes of food for distribution to our own families.
If your family is in need of support, or if you know of another BASD family who could benefit from this effort, please don’t hesitate to reach out (confidentially) to Natalee West (
nwest@basd.net) or Billie Heverly (
bheverly@basd.net). We will share details soon about when and how families can pick up items.
Thank you for your generosity and for helping our students make a positive difference in our community.

If your student is interested in a free 4-day science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) workshop mini series at Penn State, please have them see their Science teacher, the front office, or Ms. Carra for more information. We will be taking a bus after school on November 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th, and will then return to BAMS around 5:45. It's a great time! You don't want to miss out!

Please join us for a 6th grade shindig. This gathering is for all incoming 6th graders in the BASD going into Bellefonte Middle School. We are hoping to introduce students to new potential friends and future classmates to help decrease anxiety around starting a new school with so many new faces. The PTOs and PTAs of all BASD elementary schools will be providing breakfast items (including allergen free options), water, and flavor packets for the water. We will be having some ice breaker activities, bead activities, and a variety of free play items such as soccer, footballs, kickballs, and frisbees. We hope you can come out and join us and meet some new friends along the way. Time is 10 am - 12 pm at Governors Park, pavilion 6 & 8. This is not a drop off event, please plan to stay with your child and siblings are welcome. We hope to see you there!

Señorita Waite was able to secure a very exciting opportunity for her Spanish students this year during the always popular and student favorite competition, Locura de marzo! She happened to be in the right place, at the right time, and was able to sign her class up to promote the #1 Seed song: Turista, by Bad Bunny. Tens of thousands of students all over the world participate in this competition, and there are only 16 songs, so this is a very rare opportunity!
Students had 1.5 days to create a backdrop, and film the video, with very little rehearsal time. The video will be released this month when the Spanish teacher that runs the world wide competition posts the "Long Promo" video to hype up students for the competition. Students will vote for their favorite of 16 songs using a bracket similar to that of the basketball one.
What an exciting opportunity for our students!!!
