BAHS Student Council would like to congratulate Lydia Osman for earning the March ELKS Teen of the Month! Lydia represents academic excellence, meaningful service, and authentic leadership in our school community.
Lydia is the kind of student who brings curiosity and determination to everything she does. She challenges herself with the toughest courses, contributes thoughtfully in class, and consistently pushes herself to grow.
Lydia’s influence reaches well beyond the classroom. She is deeply involved in serving both the school and the larger community, giving her time and energy to projects that truly help others. Her service comes from a genuine desire to make a positive difference. Her peers respect her not just for what she accomplishes, but for how she treats others with kindness, patience, and understanding.

On Friday, February 27, 3rd graders at BES had a guest speaker who came in to talk about his immigration journey from the Dominican Republic. He talked about adjusting to living in America, things he misses from the DR, and keepsakes that he brought with him. The current reading module in A& L is all about immigration, so it was fun for them to listen to someone share their story.

Students recently had the opportunity to spread a little love and kindness through a meaningful community service project. Students and staff created handmade Valentine’s Day cards for senior citizens at The Center in Bellefonte to help brighten their day and remind them they are loved and appreciated.
The Valentines were distributed to local seniors in the community, bringing smiles and warm wishes just in time for Valentine’s Day. Students were thoughtful and creative, filling each card with encouraging messages and colorful designs.
Several students even expressed interest in personally passing out the Valentines and hope to be paired with a senior citizen to exchange letters throughout the year.
This idea would not only continue spreading kindness and love but also help students strengthen their writing skills while building meaningful intergenerational relationships.
We are so proud of our students for sharing their hearts and creativity and making a difference in our community!

Jr. High Wrestling coach, Evan Benner, was nominated as the District 6 AAA Coach of the Year last weekend!
Varsity Coach, Mike Maney, had this to say about Coach Benner:
“Coach Benner is now in his 2nd year as head coach of the Bellefonte Jr. High Wrestling program, and he continues to increase the numbers in the program. The season record was 10-3 with a mix of returners, but also a large, inexperienced group who showed a lot of growth & continued to get better as the year went on. He is an exceptional leader, very dedicated as he also helps with the youth program, a person of great integrity, who continues to make a lasting impact on the wrestling program and, more importantly, on the student-athletes he coaches.”
Congratulations to Coach Benner on this great achievement!
