This was an immense project that Mr. Maris and Mrs. Cipro spent months completing. They want to thank the staff, students, and community members that contributed their stories, knowledge, and artifacts to help make these videos into a special memory of both of these buildings.
We hope that you will enjoy them!

Message to BASD Community – Wi-Fi Access Changes for 2026–27
The Bellefonte Area School District is committed to providing a safe, secure, and high-performing technology environment that supports teaching and learning.
Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, the district will be making an important change to Wi-Fi access across all buildings. We will no longer offer open-access wireless networks. Instead, a password-protected Guest Wi-Fi network will be available for visitors who require internet access for school-supported purposes.
This change is being made for several key reasons:
Cybersecurity: Open networks present increased risk for unauthorized access and potential security threats. A controlled environment helps better protect student, staff, and district data.
Maximizing Bandwidth for Education: Limiting access ensures that available bandwidth is prioritized for instructional use, allowing students and staff to fully utilize digital learning tools without interruption.
Evolving Industry Standards: School districts across the country are moving away from open networks in favor of more secure, managed access.
In addition, staff members who need internet access for personal devices will have the option to register those devices with the district’s MIS Department. Approved devices will be granted internet-only access.
Please note that student cell phones will not be permitted to connect to the school’s wireless network. Additionally, personal cell phones used by members of the public will not be able to access district Wi-Fi while in our buildings or when attending school events such as athletic contests, concerts, or plays.
We understand that connectivity is important, and we will ensure that appropriate access is available when needed for educational and school-related activities.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work to maintain a secure and effective learning environment for all.

The Bellefonte School District Board of Directors is offering this public statement to address recent concerns regarding a board action that has generated significant public attention. While we are unable to correct or clarify every aspect of public perception surrounding this matter, we believe it is important to be transparent about the law, the processes we follow, and the best practices we have established to ensure due process in every case that comes before us.
We genuinely appreciate the concern, engagement, and commitment of our community. It is our hope that this statement helps provide a clearer understanding of the level of detail, care, and legal guidance that informs each step of our decision‑making. Our work is grounded in the principles that safeguard fairness, uphold our responsibilities, and support the success and well‑being of every student at every stage of their educational journey.

Jon Guizar

Beyond the competitions, students attended professional workshops to sharpen their leadership skills and network with peers from across the state. BASD is so proud of the hard work and professionalism displayed by these high school student members!
The High School Majorettes won the 2026 PA Open AND State Halftime Show Twirl Team School Majorette Champions (Ages 14-18).
The Middle School Majorettes won 2026 PA Open AND State Halftime Show Twirl Team School Majorette Champions (Ages 10-13).
Great job to the very talented young ladies!

In the classroom, Cameron is a dedicated and thoughtful student. He takes his academic responsibilities seriously, comes prepared, and puts forth genuine effort in his work each day. Cameron asks questions, participates in discussions, and demonstrates a level of maturity and accountability that is admirable.
Outside of the classroom, Cameron is equally impressive as a student-athlete. As a member of both the golf and baseball teams, he has proven himself to be a dependable and hardworking competitor. More importantly, he is a leader among his peers. Cameron leads by example with his work ethic, positive attitude, and the respect he shows to teammates and coaches. He understands the importance of teamwork and consistently supports those around him.
Congratulations, Cam!

Part of this experience was to create a real sized cut out of Daisy. The students measured the silhouette of Daisy on cardboard (using a picture on the board) and then used the Chompsaws to cut her out. They made a silhouette of when Daisy was first born, her at 2 months, and are working on her at 5 months. It's such a great visual to see how big she is compared to how big the kids are!
