Bellefonte Area School District hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, June 21 to commence and celebrate the start of construction for a new Elementary school at 830 E Bishop St. Bellefonte, PA 16832.
This building will incorporate a more modern and up-to-date learning environment and can house up to 750 students. The 98,000-square-foot space will include:
Flexible indoor and outdoor learning spaces, including a courtyard
Additional classrooms and dedicated spaces for the entire student body
Emotional support rooms
Life skills rooms
Media center
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) lab
Musical area with instrument storage
Multi-purpose room with a stage
Enhanced security system with cameras located throughout the building
School officials, community members, and project partners including SitelogIQ (Construction Manager), KCBA Architects, and Herbert, Rowland, & Grubic, Inc. (Civil, Geotechnical, and Traffic Engineer) were in attendance. Construction began in late May and is scheduled for completion in Spring 2026.
