Wood Working and Project Lead the Way

Mr. Seth Decker

I graduated from Millersville University with a degree in Technology and Engineering Education. Since then I have been teaching a wide variety of courses in the Technology Education field. I love watching the students design and create amazing things in our labs at BAHS. Our technology and resources continue to adapt and change and so do the projects leaving the lab! Outside of the classroom, I enjoy woodworking, hunting,  fly fishing,  and spending time with my wife and two children.

Mr. Jonathan P. Mayes

I have been a technology teacher in the Bellefonte Area School District since the 1999 and 2000 school year. During my years here, I have been involved in many exciting and successful changes and implementations in the Tech Ed Program.  Some of these changes involve using up-to-date technology as well as computer stations, Autodesk and Photoshop software, and the investment of Project Lead the Way - Engineering curriculum.

A little about myself:

I am married with two children and live in Howard. I obtained my Bachelor's in Applied Engineering and Technology in 1999.   I also completed my Master's Degree in Workforce Education from Penn State University in 2006.  My favorite activities include fishing, hunting and spending time with my family.

Technology Education and STEM Education

There are exciting things going on in the world around us and many of these are areas that relate directly to Technology and STEM-based education. My classroom is filled with information and activities that are hands-on and make learning fun. Students are given opportunities to apply technology and problem-solving techniques as well as explore classes that can benefit them and build skills for a successful career.

Agricultural Sciences

Mrs. Myken Poorman

STEM in ACTION! Agriculture Education brings relevance to real world issues related to agriculture and the environment. Students come out of the classes with the knowledge and skills they need to reach their own goals and to change the world!

As our population grows, so does the need for better quality food and sustainable resources. But, how do you do that on less fertile land? Take a class and find out how agriculture relates to your life and why sustainable agriculture should be important to you!

Each class is designed to meet the needs and interests of the students as well as to prepare them to become responsible citizens in their communities.  The courses integrate core standards from Science, English, and Math and students gain hands-on experience with real-world application.

The Agriculture Program increases awareness of the need for agricultural literacy.  It is Mrs. Poorman's goal to give students many diverse experiences and to show them opportunities in the agricultural industry that they didn't know existed.

*Depending on the courses taken, college credit can be earned. If you are interested in this option, you must speak with Mrs. Poorman.
