Hello! My name is Dr. Emel and I am a math teacher at Bellefonte Area High School. I am a 2011 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Secondary Education Mathematics. I earned my Masters Degree in 21st Century Teaching and Learning from Wilkes University in 2016 and my Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction also from Wilkes University in May 2023. This will be my 13th year at BAHS, but my 15th year of teaching. I am originally from Chalfont, Pennsylvania, which is located in Bucks County, PA. Some interesting facts about me are that I was in the Penn State Blue Band for four years, I ran the Philadelphia Marathon in 2018, and my greatest friends in life I met in high school.
On the personal side, I got married in July 2019 and I have three beautiful children. Enslee is 5, Thomas is 3, and my son Jack will be 1 in November. They keep my life very busy, but extremely full of love.
This year I will be teaching Algebra 2 and Honors Geometry. I have high expectations for both my students and myself, so be ready to be challenged but to have fun in the process. I look forward to meeting you all shortly!
