Born in 1824, he enlisted on March 12, 1862 at the Craig County Courthouse, in New Castle, Virginia. He died later that year in August, 1862, in a Confederate hospital in Danvill, Virginia. He was the son of James Elmore and Camilia Gant, as well as a husband to Rachel A. Paxton.
Henry Thomas Riley:
Riley was born in 1846, and lived in Roanoke County, Virginia. He served in the Civil War, and survived, returning home at the end of the war, where he married Frances Catherine Leonard.
Born in Virginia in 1839, N. Claiborne Wilson served as a major for the 28th Infantry Virginia Regiment. The collection of his letters home and diary have been preserved and shared to help portray the life of a Civil War soldier. Wilson died on July 3, 1864 at the battle of Gettysburg.
