Common Core Standards in English Language ArtsThe national Common Core Standards are in the process of being adopted in Pennsylvania. There is much crossover between the PA Academic Standards and the CCS-ELA with the addition of a Language section covering grammar, syntax, and writing conventions. American Sign Language National Standards
Instruction of American Sign Langauge in schools follows the goals and standards outlined in the document below. This is the standard and expectation for teaching both deaf and hearing learners. The main content areas are: Communicating in ASL, Knowledge of American Deaf Culture, Using ASL to Connect with Other Disciplines, Developing Insight into the Nature of Language, and Using ASL to PArticipate in Communication Outside of School.

Technology StandardsThe National Educational Technology Society offers educators a list of technology skills and knowledge in which students should be proficient in order to be prepared for the 21st century.
