Old Business
Tax Exempt Status: The IRS has approved out tax-exempt status. It took 19 months, but we are officially a non-profit now. The PTO will file federal taxes but will not have to pay taxes. PTO is working on wording for a letter and other paperwork that might be necessary to communicate the non-profit status. The type of exemption we have does not preclude up from paying sales tax.
New Business
Reading Counts Dates – Possibly change to different days of the week in the next year. Have it alternate so more people can attend.
School Board Meeting Summary – Amanda Grindley presented to the school board on behalf of the PTO. Talked about what’s been done with the tax-exempt process and the rebranding with logos and bags. They were very receptive.
