    Old Business

Tax Exempt Status: The IRS has approved out tax-exempt status. It took 19 months, but we are officially a non-profit now. The PTO will file federal taxes but will not have to pay taxes. PTO is working on wording for a letter and other paperwork that might be necessary to communicate the non-profit status. The type of exemption we have does not preclude up from paying sales tax.

    New Business

Reading Counts Dates – Possibly change to different days of the week in the next year. Have it alternate so more people can attend.

School Board Meeting Summary – Amanda Grindley presented to the school board on behalf of the PTO. Talked about what’s been done with the tax-exempt process and the rebranding with logos and bags. They were very receptive.

Summer Learning Program at the Centre County Library. Marion Walker PTO donates money every year.

Motion made by Amanda Grindley to approve $200
    Approved: Unanimously

Get Air – Gave two free jump passes and said they can host events for 20% proceeds being donated back to the school. PTO looking into it for next year.

School Equipment: Last year PTO voted on purchasing picnic table to replace the picnic table outside by the playground. Due to the budget freeze, they were not purchased. Since budget freeze is over PTO is looking to purchase the table. Last year’s price:

Composite picnic tables attached bench with customized colors (red & gray) – 8’ $1,082; 6’ $742

Motion made by Amanda Grindley to order three 8’ benches
    Approved: Unanimously

Karen Krisch asked about purchasing benches and putting them outside by the front door walkway for people waiting to pick children up.
    Composite bench with customized colors (red & gray) – 4’ $300; 6’ $400

Motion made by Amanda Grindley to order two 6’ benches
    Approved: Unanimously
