• New sign at Pleasant Gap made possible by Eagle Scout who once attended the school

pg signAccording to district administrators, the sign that was once outside of Pleasant Gap Elementary School was at least 20 years old. There no more, it was replaced earlier in the spring with a new sign by a Bellefonte Area High School student as an Eagle Scout project for Troop 66.

At a school board meeting April 26, Bellefonte Area High School sophomore Alex Stucky, a former Pleasant Gap student, gave a presentation to the nine-member board of school directors about the project that he said is still a work in progress.

“I’m very proud of this new sign,” he said, adding that it took more than a year to make a reality.

It includes a plaque engraved with the names of the donors, and will likely eventually have solar-powered lights to illuminate the sign in the dark as an addition to the project.
