• Student artwork displayed on CATA bus

There is a Centre Area Transportation Authority bus that travels around the county helping transport locals from place-to-place. And it just so happens to also have a touch of Bellefonte Area School District on it with artwork created by several elementary school students.

That same bus stopped by Benner and Bellefonte elementary schools on May 13 to show off the work of the six featured students.

    They are:

    • Kindergarten: Rowen Albright, Benner Elementary School
    • First grade: Alayna Kohlhepp, Benner Elementary School
    • Second grade: Emma Meter, Benner Elementary School
    • Third grade: Jack Heron, Benner Elementary School
    • Fourth grade: Isabella Oravis, Bellefonte Elementary School
    • Fifth grade: Isabella Allen, Benner Elementary School

In the third CATArt poster contest, elementary students from BASD designed posters imagining what CATA might look like in the future. To see past bus art designs of district students from 2019, visit this link: CATArt

“We got some really interesting submissions – from flying buses to hot dog stands on buses – it was just a little bit of everything,” Tara Schaffer said to the local news. Schaffer is the area executive for AmeriServ bank, the sponsor of the poster contest.
