• Model UN teams succeed at spring conferences

mun22Students in Model UN at Bellefonte Area High School came back with accolades from two conferences in April.

At the in-person conference at Penn College of Technology in Williamsport, the group overall won superior delegation for how well they worked to represent their assigned country. Those students were Emma Liadis, Cecilia Mazzocco and Ella Underwood. They also won best delegation trophy, and Liadis and Mazzocco also walked away with individual outstanding delegate awards.

At the virtual conference through Youngstown State University in Ohio, Bellefonte placed fourth overall, which included competing against schools that have Model UN as a class, rather than just a club.

    • Davis Corman, representing China in the 1956 Historical Council, earned a Superior Delegate Award, which is the highest individual award a student can obtain.
    • Bailey Hoff, representing Russia in the Security Council, earned an Excellent Delegate Award. Additionally, she earned a virtual gavel, which the chair gives to the student who they feel contributed the most to the committee. It is the highest honor that a chairperson can bestow on a delegate.
