• Senior class seeking donations for gown, suit swap event

2019 promAnticipating an end-of-year formal dance like a prom or ball this school year, the Class of 2022 is hosting a drive they hope will help their peers. The class is collecting gently used and/or new gowns, tuxedos and dress suits of all sizes that can benefit students for the event.

The swap will be held for students 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. March 25 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 26 at the high school mailroom, with the last hour of the event open to underclassmen to select apparel for their dance, according to teacher and class adviser Kim Gasper.

All donations can be sent to Gasper, or fellow teacher and class co-adviser Mike Wilson. For questions, please email Gasper at kgasper@basd.net.

The collection is from Feb. 14-23, and ensures that any senior who cannot afford a dress, tuxedo or suit can come in and walk out with one free of charge.

Class President Domenic Nelson explained that this kind of event is something the Class of 2022 strives for, as it not only helps fellow classmates, but meets the mission of also giving back.

“This occasion is integral because it offers individuals who do not have the funds for a gown or suit the opportunity to acquire the proper attire for the senior ball event,” Nelson said. “With this consideration, these individuals do not need to return the gown or suit – they can stay eternally spiffy with those goods.”
