• Kids Heart Challenge brings in money for a good cause

Each year, Benner Elementary School students participate in a health and physical education activity that helps them get active and raise money for the American Heart Association. It's called the Kids Heart Challenge, and this year nearly $6,500 was raised.

Health and PE teacher Eric Cyone said in return, the school is also given up to $1,000 to put toward PE equipment that continually enhances the program.

"It's based on how much the school raises and this year there was an extra incentive called the Principal's Challenge in which (Principal) Mr. (Dan) Park made a video challenging half the students to get signed up online to earn another $500," Cyone said.
