To help raise money for Bellefonte Area High School's annual mini-Thon event, National Honor Society and student council teamed up for an event that allowed students and school club members to buy a block of sidewalk outside the school and create art on it using chalk. The event happened during Raider period on Oct. 12-13.

According to NHS adviser Chris Morris, between $5 and $20 a block of sidewalk was purchased by individual students and members from school clubs such as GSA, Key Club, Spanish Honor Society, B the Change and more. All proceeds will benefit the Four Diamonds fund that has a mission to someday cure childhood cancer and benefit families impacted by the disease.

Students involved said that while about 10 blocks were sold as of Oct. 13, they hope to sell more and fill the entire sidewalk with student art, as this is a continuous effort.

"We're just here to make money for the kids and for mini-Thon, and do our part to make the community better," said senior Paige Kephart, NHS treasurer.
