    The Bellefonte Area school board is continuing with progress of the proposed elementary building project. Hunt engineers were hired to conduct a needs assessment of the four buildings, which was done on March 12-13. A committee was established with members of the board, district and community to support Hunt in its contract and act as a liaison among Hunt, the district and community. Board President Jon Guizar, who is also the committee's chairman, talks about what the process has been like to date and how the committee plans to work further with Hunt in this phase of the endeavor.

    Elementary project update, Part 2: April 6, 2020

    Project Manager Mike Jones, Vice President Darin Rathbun and Director of Mechanical Engineering Greg Barr from Hunt architects and engineers spoke to the district's public reactions director about the phase of the elementary building project they're involved in -- a needs assessment of Benner, Bellefonte, Marion-Walker and Pleasant Gap elementary schools. They take the time to talk about the goal of the study, some of their findings and what's next in the process that could help the school board and district decide on the best final option for the project that could include a consolidation of schools, new structure, renovation of existing buildings or combination of options.

They have identified needs of the buildings and included ways to enhance educational space.
