Renea Nichols, an assistant teaching professor at Penn State’s department of advertising and public relations, is again seeking help this summer from students at Bellefonte Area School District on a project she calls #IAmDowntownBellefonte.

It mimics the Humans of New York photo blog by allowing students to conduct interviews and create digital stories about the people who make up Bellefonte, including residents, business owners and more. The project started last summer with support from the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications at Penn State.

“As a resident of Bellefonte and member of the CYS youth advisory board, I wanted to give back to the community and help youth while celebrating Bellefonte,” Nichols said.

There is space for up to 12 students ages 12 to 17. For more information, email rdn11@psu.edu or call (814) 321-5329. All students must have parent or guardian approval. The free four-week long workshops, which begin July 9, will take place 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the YMCA in Bellefonte.
