• Life skills students complete Employment Readiness program through ACRES Project

acStudents in the life skills program at Bellefonte Area High School completed their Employment Readiness program in April provided by the ACRES Project. Upon completion, students earned their Employment Readiness certificate and finalized a resume with references.

Teacher Rachael Davis said the students attended ACRES three times a month for four months to learn a variety of skills helping to prepare them to enter the workforce. Some topics included job interests, vocational skills, self-advocacy, self-awareness, communication and problem solving.

“The students greatly enjoyed being able to attend this program and learned valuable information that will help them transition to their lives after high school,” Davis said.

ACRES, Adults Creating Residential & Employment Solutions,  is a Patton Township-based organization that helps autistic and special needs adults transition to independent living.
