• District partners with Penn State Health to offer flu clinic, flu shot free to first 1,000 people

fcPenn State Health is teaming up with the Bellefonte Area School District to offer a Drive-Thru Flu Clinic for the community. It will be held 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 13 at Bellefonte Area High School, and the flu shot will be free for the first 1,000 people ages 3 and older, according to a report from Penn State.

The partnership developed after Penn State reached out to Assistant Superintendent Tammie Burnaford who worked with other district personnel, including school nurse staff, to meet to help plan for the event.

“They said, ‘Hey, we have a lot of ideas on healthy initiatives for the district,’ and wanted to start with this – it’s a big start,” school nurse Val Fulton said. “I think they’re especially interested in the community partnership. They thought this was a great way to introduce themselves into the neighborhood and community.”

The event will also include activities, giveaways, donations from local businesses and more. Big Froggy will also be doing a live broadcast at the event from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
