AP Music Theory

Course Description

Suggested Prerequisites: Creative Music Foundations and/or Class Piano. Students must apply for admission into this course.

This course extends a student's knowledge of music theory and analysis, develops pitch/rhythmic perception, develops critical analytical listening skills, creates intensive involvement in composition and arranging, and helps students take basic musical skills and develop them to an advanced level. The material covered is equivalent to a first-semester music theory course in college. Students in AP courses are expected to take the national AP exam.
