  • Demolition begins at Rogers Stadium

Workers will be at Rogers Stadium this week to complete a full demolition of the complex. Construction and renovations are slated to begin in May. The first part of the work should be completed before the 2018 football season, which includes new bleachers and field lights.

Workers from Stadium Solutions were at Rogers Stadium on Monday, April 23 beginning demolition of the bleachers. Their first order of business was to remove the wooden planks where people sit on the bleachers, followed by metal removal that will likely be done on Wednesday, April 25, according to a company representative. Much of that wood will be recycled by the district, and money from the metal scrapping will go back to the district to put toward the stadium project, district Director of Fiscal Affairs Ken Bean said.

The bleachers will be removed and later reconstructed on the east side of the stadium by Stadium Solutions. Field demolition will be completed later in the week by Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. and FieldTurf.

The project will cost about $7 million, and is expected to be fully completed by the 2019 football season. The second year of construction and renovations will include the installation of the track’s surface, concession stands, team locker rooms and more.
