District administration released a statement in response to the church shooting Sunday in Sutherland Springs, Texas:

To Our Bellefonte Community,

Our hearts ache for the victims and families affected by the recent attack in Texas. We are saddened and horrified by the continued violence. We at BASD take the safety of our students and staff seriously; it is our top priority.  We are proactive and work to keep our buildings as secure as possible.  Given this, there are numerous protocols, practices, and facility safeguards in place to ensure our students' safety.

The Bellefonte Area School District administration
