• Benner Elementary School holds events, activities to help support PTA

bennerBenner Elementary School is doing a lot to help raise money for the Parent Teacher Association. After all, the PTA, in return, puts that money back into the school.

The school will host a Scholastic Book Fair on Nov. 8-10 for students to “browse and buy” books during a 30-minute block in the school day, Principal Kris Vancas said. There will be conferences with parents on Friday, but those parents are also able to check out the book fair with their child.

All money raised helps support the PTA, which therefore goes back into helping teachers get supplies, fund field trips, and more. The school will host another book fair in the winter during Read Across America Week that will help support the library.

The school is also participating in Art to Remember. Kindergarten through fifth-grade students have been participating in art activities, and are able to put their artwork to memorabilia-type items such as coffee mugs, coasters, calendars, and more. Money raised through this project also supports the PTA. The deadline to submit for personalized items is Nov. 13.
