Lorraine Smith Mulfinger participates on the board because she firmly believes that sustaining a quality and progressive system of public education is fundamental to the continued economic health and development of our community. Lorraine is a lifetime resident of the Bellefonte Area School district and is proud of the district’s education system. Through friends, family, and co-workers, she knows alumni of all ages and in diverse fields of employment who have built successful careers using the educational foundation that they received from our district. With this in mind, her commitment as a school director is to contribute to the quality of the district’s curriculum and services by working collaboratively to carefully consider and research proposed solutions for the many challenges and problems brought before the board.
Lorraine is employed as the director of the Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Office at Penn State University, has past experience as an associate professor of chemistry at Juniata College, and worked eight years in the pharmaceutical industry. As a wife, mother, and daughter, she hopes to bring a balanced and informed perspective to board.
