Attendance Procedures
Students must report to the office in the morning under the following conditions:
· If they are presenting a written excuse for a previous absence
· If they arrive after 8:05 AM
If a written excuse for either tardiness or absence is not received in the office within three school days, the tardiness or absence will be considered unlawful. After a student has accumulated three unlawful absences, a first offense letter is sent to the parents. The letter alerts parents to the fact that they will be fined if there are any further unlawful absences and a student may also lose the privilege of obtaining their driver’s license at the appropriate age. Failure to provide a written excuse may result in legal prosecution. A phone call to the office will not suffice – a written excuse is required.
Note : Absences shall be treated as unlawful until the district receives a written excuse
explaining the absence, to be submitted within three (3) days of the absence. A
maximum of ten (10) days of cumulative lawful absences verified by parental
notification may be permitted during a school year. All absences beyond ten
(10) cumulative days shall require an excuse from a licensed physician.
