To the Parents of my students,

I teach in two different buildings. I am at the Marion Walker School on Day 2.  In this school, I teach about half of the students.  The other half of the classes are taught by Mrs. Drosnes' substitute, Mrs. Lori Phillips.  Please check my schedules to determine if I have your child's class. The rest of the six day cycle, I am at the  Bellefonte Elementary School.  I am the Art teacher for all  of the students in this school.

Please encourage your child to wear old or washable clothes on their Art day.  It is very hard to be creative when you are worrying about getting something on your clothing and possibly ruining a favorite shirt or brand new pair of pants. If you are unsure of your child's Art day, please check my schedules.

I will announce  in my classes and in school newsletters when we will be working with clay   This is one time that the students should wear old clothes and the girls should not wear a skirt.  We work with clay on the floor and their clothes will be dusty.

Grades are given at the semester and the end of the year. The grades are 1 - 4.  Four is the highest..  If you have a question about a grade, please contact me at the school.  My e-mail address is kbaker@basd.net.  My phone extension  is #2108.

During the year, our major units of study will be drawing, painting, weaving, and pottery.  Each grade level has a different approach to these units.

Many times, I have the opportunity to display student art work in our community.  I can only do this with your permission.  I will send a permission slip home and I have also included the form in this web site.  Please complete one of these and have your child return it to me.  I will keep these on file all year.

I am looking forward to another year with your children and exploring their divergent approaches to creative problems!  They are always surprising me with new ways to look at Art!

                                           Sincerely,

                                           Mrs. Baker
