Our Program
The primary focus of our program is to assist identified Learning Support students as they progress through the general education environment. This can be achieved as followed:
· Assisting the regular education teachers in modifying instruction into the regular instructional delivery, thereby improving the learning in the class.
· Assisting students in small group by using learning strategies in a precise way that will enhance the understanding and application of concepts taught within the regular education classroom.
· Assisting a student through individual instruction that provides a one-on-one learning situation in which strategies and accommodations are used to enhance the student’s learning of concepts taught within the regular education classroom.
· Assisting students in learning and practicing organizational skills that will allow them to know what they need to do, when it needs to be done, and turning it in for evaluation in the time period given.
· Assisting students complete their assignments in a complete and thorough manner.
· Assisting students complete quizzes and tests.
Services Provided
· Learning Support teachers and Regular class teachers consult together to discuss modifications of their instructional plans to meet the needs of the Learning Support students in their classes.
· Learning Support teachers and assistants to support students in the general environment while regular class instruction is taking place.
· Learning Support teachers and assistants to work one-on-one with a student to address academic needs in the areas of re-learning of concepts, learning of instructional strategies, organization of assignments, effective use of daily planners, completion of projects and daily assignments.
· Learning Support teachers and assistants to support progress monitoring of academic and behavioral progress of the Learning Support students in the general education environment.
· Learning Support staff to closely monitor all new incoming students to ensure a positive successful start into the Bellefonte High School system.
How Students can access the information
Progress monitoring reports are sent to regular education teachers as outlined in each student’s IEP. The information from these reports is then shared with the student and their parents to ensure successful progress in the general education curriculum.
