2012 Cash Bingo- The 2012 Cash Bingo was very successful and a lot of fun! Thank you to all who stepped up to the challenge. A special thank you to Dayna & Chris Gilham for organizing a top-notch event!
First, a huge THANK YOU !! I believe myself & co-tournament directors (Tom Alterio & Marty Wesley) cannot thank those who contributed this weekend through table help, donations, clean-up, set-up, etc. Because of your efforts, your efforts you continued the legacy of the Bellefonte Wrestling Program running a first-class tournament. In addition, even though we don’t know the total at this time, you helped raise money for all of the Bellefonte Wrestlers to benefit from the funds we raised this weekend for team camp, tournament expenses, singlets, equipment, etc.
We heard many compliments from PAWF tournament staff, fans, wrestlers, coaches, referees about the “great show” and “great tournament” you (Bellefonte Wrestling) put on. Whether it be the courtesy of the tournament workers, cafeteria food and selection, the kindness of tournament staff, we heard many compliments and this is a credit to all of those who helped this weekend. As I mentioned at the Varsity and Jr. High Banquet, when a state champion or state earn that medal in Hershey or any member of the Bellefonte Wrestling earn various achievements throughout their careers, you also have a part in that through your hard work at events like the PAWF States.
If you would like to see some pictures, results, or videos from this weekend please see the links below, especially the videos, there is a lot of stuff on there. Videos of Garrett Poorman’s Semi-Final & Finals matches and other Bellefonte Wrestlers are on the website.
Also pictures in Sunday’s CDT
Others who competed: Luke Leathers, Aaron Witherite, Max Wortman
One area we would like to see improve is the participation from Bellefonte Wrestlers, especially if not involved in a spring sport. This is the main reason, more than funds, to help bring the tournament to Bellefonte. This is something we will continue to promote, whether it is held in Bellefonte or another venue.
On another note, for those concerned about the wrestler, Ian Hammond from Chambersburg, the latest update I have from family is below. Thanks to our medical staff, including Youth Coach Kevin Smith, a quick response helped what made very negative outcome look more positive possibly.
“I know many people are wondering how Ian Hammond is doing. He was life lined to Altoona from PAWF states today. After hitting his head in a match which he finished he began to have complications while waiting for his next match. Ian suffered an epidural bleed (in his brain) and required surgery. The surgery went very well and because he received treatment quickly the outlook is good for a full recovery. Please keep Ian and the Hammond family in your prayers.”
From the Hammond family: Ian had a good night. He is able to respond to commands gave the dr two thumbs up. We are waiting on this mornings cat scan results then hopefully they can take him off the vent and decrease the sedation. Thanks for all the wonderful words and prayers.
Things went well for Ian overnight. He was able to respond to commands and gave the Doctor two thumbs up. A CAT scan was done this morning and they are waiting on results. Hopefully they can get Ian off the vent and reduce his sedation then. Keep the prayers coming
Finally, I know the, what seems like hundreds of emails that come out asking for donations, help, etc. can become a pest & nuisance, however please think about all of the wrestlers you have now helped through your generosity. You now have helped them work toward their individual goals through your commitment and sacrifice.
So, as I am sure you received a lot of emails requesting for emails, I am hoping you will receive several THANK YOUs as well.
So once again, a huge THANK YOU!
Have a great week & Memorial Day weekend!!
