At the meeting of the Bellefonte Area School Board held on Tuesday, August 15, 2006, the following action was taken:

District

  • Approved the minutes of the August 1, 2006, Regular Meeting

  • Approved the Board Bill Lists associated with the various funds:  General Fund, Athletics Fund, Construction Fund, Cafeteria Fund, High School Activities Fund, and Middle School Activities Fund

  • Approved the Investment Report

  • Approved the Treasurer’s Report

Personnel

  • Accepted the resignation of Mr. Nathaniel Wharton, Science Teacher at Bellefonte Area High School, effective August 7, 2006

  • Accepted the resignation of Miss Bethany Wygonik, French Teacher at Bellefonte Area High School, effective August 25, 2006

  • Approved Salary Changes for John Zimmerman (B50-28+ to B60-28+), Stacey Miller (B30-5 to M-5), and Melissa Hockenberry (B-8 to B30-8)

  • Approved FMLA requests for district employees

  • Approved mentor teachers

  • Approved the revised Classroom Assistant job description

  • Approved additions to the Professional Substitute Listing

  • Approved Wesley McElravy volunteer for Volleyball and Matt Catherman volunteer for Football

  • Approved Sue Watson as a Jr. High Girls’ Assistant Basketball Coach

Education and School Activities

  • Denied a request for the Bellefonte Area High School Cross Country Team to travel to Bloomsburg, PA, on August 25, 2006, to participate in the Market Street Mile Race

  • Approved textbooks for Grade 6 & 7 Advanced Mathematics

Transportation

  •      Approved Bus Routes for the 2006-07 School Year

  • Approved Transportation Carriers & Employees for the 2006-07 school year

Finance

  • Approved change orders for the Marion-Walker Elementary Building/Renovation Project

Other

  • Approved Adult Education courses for the Fall Term 2006:  Artisan Bread Baking, FUN-damentals of Sewing, Photography, Eclectic Cooking, Scrapbooking for Beginners, Beginning Spanish, Microsoft Office Basics, and Jewelry Making

  • Approved Mrs. Becky Rock, Board Member, to attend the PSBA Conference in Hershey on October 11-13, 2006
