At the meeting of the Bellefonte Area School Board held on Tuesday, June 20, 2006, the following action was taken:

 

District

  • Approved the minutes of the June 6, 2006, Regular Meeting

  • Approved the Board Bill Lists for the following funds:  General Fund, Athletics Fund, Construction Fund, Cafeteria Fund, High School Activities Fund, and Middle School Activities Fund

  • Approved the Investment Report

Personnel

  • Accepted the resignation of Mrs. Barbara Houtz, Science Teacher at BAMS, effective June 30, 2006

  • Increased the teaching position of Miss Julie C. Wisniewski, Elementary Orchestra Teacher, from half-time to full-time effective with the 2006-2007 school year

  • Increased the teaching position of Ms. Marci L. Page, High School Science Teacher, from half-time to full-time effective with the 2006-2007 school year.

  • Increased the teaching position of Mrs. Sandra L. Shirey, High School Mathematics Teacher, from half-time to three-quarter time

  • Appointed Ms. Wendy Crust as a 2-hour/day Level B Cafeteria Worker effective August 28, 2006, with initial assignment at Bellefonte Area Middle School

  • Appointed Miss Kristina Truman as a temporary professional employee effective August 28, 2006, as an elementary teacher at Marion-Walker Elementary School

  • Awarded tenure to the following staff:  Mary Balatti, Susan Besch, Kerry Jodon, Regina Kilburn, Matthew Martin, Shaun McMurtrie, Daniel Park, Jennifer Roth, and Sandra Shirey

  • Approved a salary change for Anita Simcox from B40-7 to M-7

  • Approved summer school teachers for Pleasant Gap Elementary School

  • Approved uncompensated leave requests for Mrs. Kelli Corman and Ms. Lori Joy

  • Approved student teachers

  • Approved the 2006-07 salary for James T. Masullo, Jr., Superintendent

Education and School Activities

  • Approved two BAHS students to attend the PSBA Student Delegate Program at the Holiday Inn, Grantville, PA on October 11-13, 2006, and a district chaperone

  • Gave approval for the BAHS Marching Band to perform at Kennywood Park on June 29, 2006

  • Approved middle school science textbooks

 Finance

  • Approved terminating several high school student activity fund accounts due to no activity in those accounts since the 2003-04 school year

  • Awarded TMG Builders the contract for installation of a Life Skills restroom at Pleasant Gap Elementary School

  • Awarded Ehrlich the contract to do termite pretreatment and post applications to the BAHS additions

  • Awarded furniture bids for the purchase and delivery of school furniture for the BAHS and Marion-Walker Elementary School building/renovations projects

  • Approved a change order to Leonard S. Fiore, Inc. to provide steel angles to support the brick on the upper walls of the Marion-Walker library

  • Awarded Weatherproofing Technologies the bid for the Benner Elementary School Walking Path project

  • Awarded a bid to replace 1,200 sq ft of slate and flashing on the Central Administration Building

  • Approved the district’s continued participation in state and federal programs and grants for the 2006-07 school year
