At the meeting of the Bellefonte Area School Board held on Tuesday, May 16, 2006, the following action was taken:

 

District

  • Approved the minutes of the May 2, 2006, Regular Board Meeting
  • Approved the Treasurer’s Report
  • Approved the Board Bill Lists associated with the General Fund, Athletics Fund, Construction Fund, Cafeteria Fund, High School Activities Fund, and Middle School Activities Fund
  • Approved the Investment Report

Personnel

  • Accepted the resignation of Ms. Gwen McGovern, Cafeteria Aide at Bellefonte Elementary School, effective May 2, 2006
  • Approved additions to the Support Staff and Professional Personnel Substitute Listings
  • Approved salary changes for Stacey Miller from B-4 to B30-4 and Jonathan Mayes from B-7 to B30-7
  • Approved district employees to take leave from their duties
  • Approved a short-term uncompensated leave for Mrs. Dawn McCarthy for May 19, 2006
  • Approved a short-term uncompensated leave for Mrs. Marie Smitchko for April 6, 2006, and April 25, 2006
  • Approved a short-term uncompensated leave for Mrs. Regina Quici for April 28, 2006
  • Appointed Dr. Scott Etter as Solicitor for the Bellefonte Area School District for school year 2006-07
  • Approved Parente Randolph, LLC as auditor of school district accounts for the 2006-07 school year
  • Approved Mrs. Tammy Myers as Treasurer of the school district for the 2006-07 school year
  • Approved Mr. Kenneth G. Bean, Jr., as Custodian of the activity accounts for the 2006-07 school year
  • Approved Eric R. Robinson as a volunteer for Track and Prestie Headings, IV for Cheerleading
  • Approved Catherine Meier and Ashley Miller to serve as interns with Dr. Joy Miller, School Psychologist

Education and School Activities

  • Approved the following trip requests:  Pleasant Gap Elementary School first grade students to go to the Children’s Discovery Workshop in Williamsport, PA, on June 9, 2006, and gave approval for 8 BAHS Football Team members to attend Quarterback Camp at Bloomsburg University on May 27, 2006
  • Adopted textbooks and trade books for the 2006-07 school year
  • Gave approval for BASD to continue participation in the Adult Diploma Grant Program

Finance

  • Approved the Realty Transfer Tax at the rate of 1%, Earned Income and net profit tax at the rate of 1.05%, and Occupational Privilege Tax rates for Bellefonte Borough, Benner Township, Spring Township, Marion Township, and Walker Township
  • Approved Citizen’s Bank as the depository bank for the 2006-07 fiscal year
  • Approved Investment Institutions for the 2006-07 fiscal year
  • Approved Statewide Tax Recovery, Inc., of Sunbury, PA, as collector of delinquent taxes for previous years
  • Approved tax collectors for the 2006-07 year
  • Approved the Student Activity Accounting Manual
  • Approved a resolution authorizing issuance of individual procurement cards

Other

  • Adopted Policy #815.3 – Distance Learning
  • First Reading of the following policies:  #112 – Guidance Counseling; #127 – Assessment of Educational Program; 218 – Student Discipline; 220 – Student Expression/Distribution and Posting of Materials; #221 – Dress and Grooming; #229 – Community Relations and Fundraising in the School; #233 – Suspension and Expulsion; #235 – Student Rights/Responsibilities/Surveys; and #609 – Investments
  • Accepted the donation of the following equipment from the Pleasant Gap Elementary School PTO – Mini-Scoop and Curved Track Ride
  •  Gave approval for outdated textbooks and library books to be disposed of through Book Savers Company
