At the meeting of the Bellefonte Area School Board held on Tuesday, February 28, 2006, the following action was taken:

 

District

 

  • Approved the minutes of the February 14, 2006, Board Meeting.

  • Approved the Treasurer’s Report.

  • Approved payment of the Board Bill Lists:  General Fund, Athletics Fund, Construction Fund, Cafeteria Fund, High School Activities Fund, and Middle School Activities Fund.

  • Approved the Investment Report.

 Discussion Item

 

  • Heard an update on the Marion-Walker Renovations/Additions Project from  Mr. Rick Vilello, Clerk of the Works.

 Personnel

 

  • Appointed Mrs. Wendy Bakaj to a 6-hour Level C Personal Care Aide position effective February 23, 2006, at Pleasant Gap Elementary School.

  • Appointed Mrs. Amy Roberts as Special Education Secretary, effective March 9, 2006.

  • Approved additions to the Professional and Support Staff Substitute Listings.

  • Approved pre-student teaching internships.

  • Approved mentors for Heather Spotts and Amy Miner.

  • Approved volunteers.

 Education and School Activities

 

  • Approved homebound instruction for a Bellefonte Area High School student.

  • Approved the following student activity trip requests:  1)  Marion-Walker Elementary School Fourth Grade to Whitaker Science Center; 2) Bellefonte Area Middle School Careers class to visit the Harley Davidson Plant; and 3) Marion-Walker Elementary School Third Grade to visit Old Bedford Village.

 Other

 

  • Approved the following Policies:  Policy #137 – “In-Home Instruction”; Policy #137.1 – “Extracurricular Participation By Home Education Students”; and Policy #140.1 – “Extracurricular Participation By Charter/Cyber Charter Students.”

  • Cancelled the March 7, 2006, Board Meeting.

  • Denied the application of the Young Scholars of Central Pennsylvania Charter School.
