At the meeting of the Bellefonte Area School Board held on Tuesday, February 14, 2006, the following action was taken:

 

District

 

  • Approved the minutes of the January 24, 2006, Board Meeting

 Discussion/Presentation Items

 

  • High School Building/Renovations Project

  • Bond Refinancing

  • Young Scholars of Central Pennsylvania Charter School

 Personnel

 

  • Appointed Mr. Erich May as a temporary professional employee effective January 26, 2006.  Mr. May’s initial assignment is a high school English teacher.

  • Appointed Mrs. Paula Haynes as a long-term substitute teacher at Bellefonte Area Elementary School for the second semester of the 2005-06 school year.

  • Appointed Mrs. Heather Spotts as a temporary professional employee.  Mrs. Spotts’ initial assignment is a sixth grade teacher at Bellefonte Area Middle School.

  • Approved uncompensated leave requests for Mrs. Martha Nastase and Mrs. Debra Placky.

  • Approved a sabbatical leave for Mrs. Karen Drosnes for the 2006-07 school year.

  • Approved volunteers.

  • Approved Jeffrey Puhala to do a summer internship with Mrs. Karen Krisch and Mrs. Tammie Burnaford.

Education and School Activities 

  • Approved student activity trips for the following:  High School Softball team, Ninth Grade (Gettysburg), Indoor Color Guard and Majorettes, Tenth Grade (Washington, DC), and Seventh Grade (Hershey).

 Finance

 

  • Approved re-financing a portion of the General Obligation Bonds, Series of 1999 and a portion of the outstanding General Obligation Bonds, Series of 2004.

  • Approved Builders Risk premiums for the Marion-Walker Building/Renovation Project.

 Other

 

  • First Reading of the following policies:

  • Approved PlanCon F (Attachment C) and PlanCon G submission to the Pennsylvania Department of Education for the Bellefonte Area High School Project.

  • Approved bids for Alternates for the Bellefonte Area High School Addition and Alterations Project.

  • Approved low bid contracts pending all approvals and permits for the Bellefonte Area High School Addition and Alterations Project.

  • Approved FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) bids for the Bellefonte Area High School Addition and Alterations Project.
