At the meeting of the Bellefonte Area School Board held on Tuesday, October 24, 2006, the following action was taken:

¨      Approved the minutes of the September 26, 2006, Regular School Board Meeting

¨      Approved the Treasurer’s Report

¨      Approved the Board Bill Lists associated with the various funds:  General Fund, Athletics Fund, Construction Fund, Cafeteria Fund, High School Activities Fund, Middle School Activities Fund

¨      Approved Extra-Duty Extra-Pay Positions:  Boys’ Basketball – Head Jr. High Coach – Adam Leiter; Boys’ Basketball – Assistant Jr. High Coach – Kris Glunt; and Boys’ Basketball – Assistant Varsity Coach – Larry Campbell

 

Education and School Activities

¨      Approved the following Student Activity Trips:  BAMS Sixth Grade Band, Chorus, and Orchestra to participate in the High Note Music Festival, Hershey Park, PA, on May 11, 2007; BAMS Seventh & Eighth Grade Band, Chorus, and Orchestra students participate in the High Note Music Festival, Hershey Park, PA, on May 18, 2007; and Bellefonte Area High School Concert Band, Choir, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Flex Band and Choir to take a field trip to Baltimore, MD, on March 30-31, 2007

¨      Approved homebound instruction

Finance

¨      Approved Change Orders in the amount of $16,309.31 for the Marion-Walker Elementary School Project

¨      Approved Change Orders in the amount of $64,806.00 for the Bellefonte Area High School Project

¨      Approved Administration Building Roofing Project in the amount of $18,500.00

Other

¨      Gave approval to salvage equipment/materials

¨      Approved a request for Coach Gregg Kohlhepp and parent volunteers to remove sod from a 60’ radius of the infield and replace with clay/dirt infield mix on the junior high softball field

¨      Accepted the donation of a backstop to be installed at Marion-Walker Elementary School playground

¨      Gave approval for Matthew Martin, High School Social Studies Teacher, to conduct a study entitled Classroom-Based Research – Using Effective Test Review Strategies, as part of his graduate program

      Gave approval to investigate reconfiguration of Middle School entrance for safety purposes

     Gave approval to purchase 300 additional seats for the new gymnasium at the high school
