At the meeting of the Bellefonte Area School Board held on Tuesday, August 2, 2005, the following action was taken: 

 

District

 

  • Approved the minutes of the July 12, 2005, Board Meeting

 Reports

 

  • Recreation Task Force
  • Athletic Facilities Study
  • Elementary and Secondary Student and Faculty Handbooks

 Personnel

 

  • Accepted the resignation of Mrs. Debra Lyons as a personal care aide effective July 31, 2005.
  • Accepted the resignation of Ms. Leigh-Anne Bartley as a cafeteria worker effective July 19, 2005.
  • Accepted the retirement/resignation of Mr. Ranulfo Poblete as a custodian effective September 9, 2005.
  • Accepted the resignation of Mrs. R. Ann Owens as an elementary librarian effective August 8, 2005.
  • Accepted the resignation of Mrs. Jill Hetrick as a special education teacher effective July 26, 2005.
  • Appointed Ms. Stephanie Kline as a temporary professional employee effective August 29, 2005.  Ms. Kline’s initial assignment will be as a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Bellefonte Area High School.
  • Appointed Mrs. Karen Krisch as Bellefonte Area Middle School Principal, effective August 1, 2005.
  • Accepted the resignation of Mr. Michael Turner as an assistant football coach.
  • Accepted the resignation of Mrs. Jennifer Schultz Carroll as an assistant junior high girls’ basketball coach.
  • Appointed the following: 
    • Middle School Newspaper Advisor – Justin Evey
    • Middle School Band & Chorus Director – John Zimmerman
    • Middle School Yearbook Advisor – Renee Besecker
    • Middle School Student Council Advisor – Michael Stone
    • Head Swimming Coach – Randy Pollick
    • Assistant Football Coach – William Cummings
  • Approved Steve Gasper and Robert Chandler as Cross Country Volunteer Coaches
  • Approved a request for William Fleckenstein to attend the US Golf Teachers’ Clinic in Ellicottville, NY, on Saturday and Sunday, September 3 and 4, 2005.
  • Approved Rachel Barry as a student intern for Kevin Harman.

 Education and School Activities

 

  • Approved Elementary, Middle, and High School Student/Faculty Handbooks for the 2005-06 school year.
  • Approved science textbooks.

 Finance
 

  • Approved a change order in the amount of $1,175 for asbestos removal for Marion-Walker Elementary School.
  • Accepted the donation of instruments from the Fine Arts Booster Organization.
  • Approved athletic ticket prices, effective Fall 2005.
  • Approved equipment for salvage and sale.
