the meeting of the Bellefonte Area School Board held on Tuesday,
May 24, 2005, the following action was taken:

Approved
the Minutes of the May 10, 2005, Board
Meeting.

Approved
payment of bills from the following
accounts: General Fund, Athletic Fund,
Construction Fund, Cafeteria Fund, High
School Activities Fund, and Middle
School Activities Fund.

Approved
the Investment Report.
-
Had
discussion on the following items:
Student Threat Assessment Plan, Language
Arts Curriculum, Pleasant Gap Roof, and
Facilities.

Approved a
resolution setting forth the reasons and
providing a rationale for choosing not
to opt into the Homeowners Tax Relief
Act, Act 72 of 2004.
Personnel
-
Accepted
the retirement/resignation of Mr. Paul
Kline, District Maintenance, effective
July 12, 2005.

Accepted
the resignation of Mrs. Jane Bodle,
Building Aide, effective June 8, 2005.

Appointed
Mr. John Kontier as a Temporary
Professional Employee, effective August
29, 2005. Mr. Kontier’s initial
placement will be in the Middle School
as a Language Arts teacher.

Finance

Approved R. L.
Abatement Co., to remove the asbestos floor
tile in the multi-purpose room at Pleasant
Gap Elementary School.

listing a DeVilbiss Model UBL5576, air
compressor as salvage and to advertise the
air compressor for sale.

Approved the
purchase of a new T-Tag (dump truck) at the
State bid list price.

Approved
Hoodco, Inc. to replace the toilet
partitions at Bellefonte Elementary School.

Accepted the
bid from Rainbow Floors to refinish the
gymnasium floor at the Bellefonte Area
Middle School.
-
Accepted the
quote from Quality Air Mechanical to replace
the condensate pump station at Bellefonte
Elementary School.
-
Adopted the
annual budget for the school year 2005-2006
in the total amount of $31,400,000;
authorizing the expenditures as set forth
therein; levying a tax of 36.986 mills of
real estate situated within the Bellefonte
Area School District; and levying previous
taxes under the provision of Act 511 of
1965.
-
Approved the
resolution to continue taxes levied pursuant
to the Local Tax Enabling Act, Act 511, of
1965: Realty Transfer Tax at the rate of
1%; Earned Income Tax at the rate of 1.05%;
and Occupational Privilege Tax at the
following rates: $5.00 (Bellefonte Borough
and Benner Township); $10.00 (Spring
Township, Marion Township, and Walker
Township).

Approved
financial institutions for investment
opportunities.

Approved
Statewide Tax Recovery, Inc., of Sunbury,
PA, as collector of delinquent taxes for
previous years.

Appointed the
following tax collectors for 2005-2006:
Larry Thal, Connie Peters, Nancy Rose, R.
Brian McCauley, and Judy Deitrich.

Accepted a
quote from Centre Chemical to purchase a
floor scrubbe
Approved
roof replacement for the Pleasant Gap
Elementary School.
Approved a

school project.
