Bellefonte Bulletin - 2005

 
 

At the meeting of the Bellefonte Area School Board held on Tuesday, May 10, 2005, the following action was taken: 

  • Accepted the retirement/resignation of Dr. Ann Brungart and Mrs. Diane Williams.

  • Approved the transfer of Kathy Cain to the position of second shift Crew Custodian at Bellefonte Elementary School, effective June 30, 2005.

  • Approved the following summer school teachers:  Renee Besecker, Brenda Rogers, Lynn Packard, and John Kontier.

  • Approved additions to the Support and Professional Substitute Listing.

  • Approved student teachers for fall semester.

  • Approved a change in the following extra-duty, extra pay positions:  Cheerleader Advisor and Assistant Cheerleader Advisor.

  • Established a swimming coach position effective with the 2005-2006 school year.

  • Appointed the following:  Jim Jones – Assistant Football Coach; Tina Gaughan – Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach; Larry Walker – Varsity Wrestling Coach; Susan Besch – Varsity Gymnastics Coach; and Kelly Bucha – Cheerleading Advisor.

  • Approved sabbatical leaves for professional development for the following:  Mrs. Barbara Houtz (2005-2006 school year), Ms. Amy Sten (second semester of 2005-2006 school year), Ms. Janice McDowell (second semester of 2005-2006 school year), and Ms. Patricia Correll (first semester of 2005-2006 school year).

  • Approved student activity trips.

  • Approved the 2005 graduates.

  • Approved implementation of a six-day cycle in all District elementary schools beginning with the 2005-06 school year.

  • Approved summer school tuition rates.

  • Established a Spanish Club at Bellefonte Area High School.

  • Approved the 2005-2006 Athletic Budget in the amount of $456,375.

  • Approved the 2005-2006 Cafeteria Budget in the amount of $1,291,533.

  • Approved Policy #200 – Enrollment in District.

  • Appointed Mr. Richard Hueholt as Clerk-of-the-Works for the Marion-Walker Elementary School building project.

  • Accepted the donation of $750 from the Fine Arts Booster Club to be used to purchase 8 used violins and 2 violas.

  • Entered PLANCON Part B  (Marion-Walker Elementary) into the official minutes.

  • Gave approval for Pleasant Gap Girl Scout Troop 435 to repair and stain picnic tables located at the rear of Pleasant Gap Elementary School.

  • Approved a research project in music education.

  • Approved Nittany Building Specialties, Inc. to furnish and install VCT tile in the Pleasant Gap Elementary School multi-purpose room at a cost of $6,235.
