Well, here is my completed document. If anyone has suggestions or anything
to add, please let me know. Thanks in advance, Angela

Hello, and welcome to what I hope will be an exciting and fun-filled year of
working together. I hope that we can work together as a team to meet the
needs of all the students in our classroom. I will never ask you to do
anything in the room that I myself would not be willing to do. Please look
over the following list of expectations and responsibilities.  If you ever
have any questions, please do not hesitate to come to me, after all, we are
a team.
1. Arrive at school at least 15 minutes prior to the students arriving so
that we can go over any last minute details for the day. Stay at least 10
minutes after school to reflect over the day and plan strategies for
tomorrow.
2. Greet the children as they come in. Either remain in the class with the
car-riders or get the bus-riders off their buses, escorting the students
into the building and to their cubbies
3. Help to check folders and backpacks.
4. When in the hallways, with the students, extend the lessons through
chants, songs, riddles, rhymes, etc...
5. Assist the students as they serve themselves breakfast. While they are
eating, it is a great time to sit and talk with the students, thus working
on our Manners Curriculum.
6. During times when a teacher takes the lead, if possible, please sit on
the carpet, assisting the teacher, talking with children, and providing
one-on-one assistance as needed.
7. During center time, we will be immersed in centers with the students. The
adults in the classroom will work to facilitate instruction and extend
language. The focus during center time is often on process rather than on
product.
8. You are asked to attend arts and humanities with the students. Please
offer your assistance to the teacher in the room. If you have questions,
please do not hesitate to ask.
9. Assist the students in passing bowls and serving themselves during lunch.
You may want to also use this time to "strike up" conversations with the
students, stressing the importance of "family style", nutrition and manners.
10. Tutor individual students using instructional objectives and lessons
developed by teachers or other professional personnel.
11. Administer formal and informal assessment instruments.  Collect and
chart data and assist the teacher in other functional assessment activities
to determine a student's development level and behavior.
12. Implement behavioral management strategies - using the same emphasis and
techniques as teachers and professional personnel.
13. Assist teachers with crisis problems and discipline.
14. Assist with the preparation of materials for use in specific
instructional programs.
15. Attend IEP or staff meetings at the request of teachers or
administrative personnel.
16. Help with organizing and scheduling classroom activities and maintaining
a safe environment.
17. Serve as a liaison between the school and parents to support and assist
parents to gain access to social, health and other human resources and to
participate in their child's education.
18. Record attendance, maintain records and other clerical tasks.
19.  Assist students with personal and hygienic care.
20.  Help to set up and maintain classroom equipment and learning centers.
21. Reinforce lessons initiated by the teacher.

Once again, I am looking forward to watching our students grow both
physically and intellectually through out the next school year.
