a)  Let x = temperature  and   y = # of fish caught
     y = 2x -10

b)  y = 2x - 10
     y = 2(72) -10
     y = 134 fish


Problem 2

Paid within 10 days:    $118  (.59 x 200)
Paid after 10 days:      $138  (.69 x 200)

Savings:    (138-118)/118 = .169   which is approximately 17%

According to the proposals, the three employees at the lower end of the current pay would prefer the flat raise; however, everyone else would prefer the 10% increase (see table from calculator above).  So, if majority rules, the 10% raise should be accepted.  It also results in the higher mean and median pays for all employees.

Volume of cylinder is  pi(2)2(5) = 62.8 cubic feet

a)  62.8 / 2 = 31.4 seconds

b)  62.8 = (6)(3)(h)
     Therefore, h = 3.5 feet

c)  62.8 / 72 = Approx 87%

A)  Area of walkway is 24 ft x 21 ft - 18 ft. x 15 ft. = 234 sq. ft. 

B)  Price is 234 sq. ft. x $2.18/ sq ft = $510.12

The equation for depreciation is y = -3799.075x + 35039.775 where x represents the years of depreciation and y represents $ amount of the SUV.
