Some elected officials risk their careers to do right by their community and country. In Profiles in Courage, John F. Kennedy described eight U.S. elected officials who demonstrated political courage. |
Here's your chance to write a new profile in
courage. The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation invites U.S. high school students to write an original essay of less than 1,000 words that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in Courage. For contest information, registration, and to submit your essay online, visit the Profile in Courage Award Program at www.jfklibrary.org. This scholarship is dedicated to assisting
students with financial need who plan to pursue a bachelor's degree at a
public institution within their legal state of residence. To qualify,
a student must be: * graduating from high school this academic year (between 12/1/08 and 8/31/09) * Maintaining a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher * Enrolling in a public, in-state college or university (start date no later than 9/30/09) * Pursuing a bachelor's degree * A U.S. citizen or permanent resident Students can complete their application online at www.kfcscholars.org. |

Flying J Scholarship Program |
Selection criteria will include the consideration
of academic performance, personal data as described in the brochure, an
