As we begin
the transition from winter to spring, I wish to reflect for a moment on
the current school year as well as look to the future. With only a few
months remaining in the 2006-2007 academic year, I want to thank our
entire staff for their dedication, our students for their hard work and
excellent achievements, and our parents and community for their
ever-present support for our schools.
The
Bellefonte Area School District’s strength is directly dependent upon a
culture that demonstrates a deep sense of caring and an unyielding
dedication to excellence. One of our goals is always to make a
commitment toward continuous improvement. Within your homes and our
classrooms are tomorrow’s leaders who will significantly shape the
future.
We have
accomplished many things academically in the past few months, and we
will continue to accomplish even more as the year winds down. We
recently held a Dedication Ceremony at the Marion-Walker Elementary
School. Our high school renovation/construction project is moving along
very well, and as I am writing this message, our high school students
and teachers are moving into the new section of the high school
building. This is a very exciting time.
In the next
few weeks, our students will be taking the PSSA’s. Every Pennsylvania
student in Grades 3 through 8 and Grade 11 is assessed in reading and
math. There are many ways that we can assess how our students are
doing; however, this is the test that Pennsylvania assesses how we are
doing. Our scores in all of our schools over the past few years have
been very good, and we continually strive to help all of our students be
successful in everything they do in school.
The
Bellefonte Area School District is currently developing a Strategic Plan
that will guide us for the next six years. The main goal of the
Strategic Plan is to insure that we are providing the best possible
education for our students so that they can be successful. It is a very
exciting process because parents, community, students, support staff,
administrators, and professional staff are working together for the
common goal of student achievement.
As always, I
appreciate your continued support. When home and school work together,
students are successful. Have a great Spring!
Sincerely yours,
BELLEFONTE AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT
