IT ALL ADDS UP TO EXCELLENCE

By

James T. Masullo, Jr., Superintendent

How do we measure educational excellence?  In the Bellefonte Area School District it can be measured in the achievements of our students, in the dedication of our staff, in the quality of our programs, in the challenging curriculum, in the leadership of our school board and administration, and in the supportive atmosphere of our community.  It means safe schools, a nurturing learning environment, involved parents, and pride in our successes.

The Bellefonte Area School District has an intensive screening process in place to recruit, identify, and hire the best teachers for our children.  I am pleased to report that 100 percent of our teaching staff is identified as “highly qualified” by the State because they are teaching in their area of certification.

Our schools are safe places for learning and our administrative staff and school board are committed to maintaining this safe atmosphere.  The safety of our students and staff will always be a top priority at Bellefonte.

The Bellefonte Area School District has a very caring and nurturing learning environment.  From the time they enter Kindergarten, children are welcomed by people who are committed to the task of instructing, motivating, encouraging, supporting, and inspiring them.  We are able to provide diverse and challenging opportunities in academics, athletics, the arts, and clubs in an atmosphere where all students are well known by the staff.  All students are encouraged to become involved, to participate, to dream, to reach their potential, to explore their interests, and to pursue excellence.  Our students also learn the importance of “giving back” to their school and community and take this to heart with many hours of public service performed during the school year in grades 9-12.

Research tells us that one of the greatest indicators of student success in school is the level of involvement of parents.  We urge parents in Bellefonte to stay informed about their child’s progress, stay in communication with their child’s teachers and administrators, and stay connected with the school district.  The Bellefonte Area School District welcomes and encourages parent involvement in all of our schools, programs, and activities.

Our school district has a superintendent, administrative team, and a school board committed to progress and excellence.  Through annual administrative and board goals, our school district targets specific needs and implements innovative, systematic plans for improvement based on sound research and data collection.

Today’s schools need the best resources, technology, and tools available to support and strengthen the educational process.  At Bellefonte, we are very fortunate to have a school board and community that understand the importance of giving our students an edge in a competitive world.

Many exciting things will be occurring in the Bellefonte Area School District in the years to come, and I am very proud to be a part of that process.

                                   Sincerely,

                                          BELLEFONTE AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT
