Safety Committee Meeting Minutes

August 24, 2005

A meeting of the District’s Safety Committee was held August 24, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. at the High School conference room.  Those in attendance were:  William Cain, Aaron Barto, Judy Ripka, Betsy Bennett, & Jeffrey Lucas.

Aaron read July meeting minutes and no changes were made.  Minutes were approved as read.

Old Business:

1.  Post-Asbestos concerns from Bill Cain about wires hanging down in the hallways and lights installed haphazardly.

Outstanding Work Place Safety Concerns: None

New Business:

1.  The committee performed a walk through of the high school that had undergone asbestos removal to observe any conditions that could lead to problems and recommended corrections needed to Aaron so that he could have the Custodial and Maintenance crews repair or correct any/all problems. Aaron had contracted a company to install wall supports in the hallways and thus eliminated any issues regarding the lack of support on the hallway wall facades. The majority of issues pointed out by the committee were about wires hanging down that needed tied up and that exit lights either needed new bulbs or checked for power. 

2. Girls locker room at the high school was checked and needs to have a roof umbrella installed to control any roof leaks in that area.

3. The committee observed the mold on the underneath roof deck in the green hallway that Aaron has scheduled for remediation before school starts. The mold appeared to be dry and may have been from many years prior, but will be removed regardless.

The next meeting is scheduled for September 28, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at a location to be determined. Meeting adjourned @ 10:45 a.m.
