BELLEFONTE AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT Safety Committee Meeting Minutes March 30, 2005 A meeting of the District’s Safety Committee was held March 30, 2005 at 3:00 P.M. at the Bellefonte Middle School conference room. Those in attendance were: William Cain, Aaron Barto, Ruth Ann Weight, & Patti Hillard. Aaron read February meeting minutes and no changes were made. Minutes were approved as read. Old Business: 1. Bus fence repairs have been done by the Maintenance staff and it is no longer a safety hazard to softball players. 2. Ruth Ann mentioned that she found the High School doors propped open again, and seems that there maybe issues with door locks and closers. Outstanding Work Place Safety Concerns: None Work Place Safety Concerns: None New Business: 1. Asbestos Removal. Aaron talked about the upcoming asbestos abatement at the High School and Marion-Walker school. The asbestos contractor will seal the area with plastic creating a negative pressure atmosphere and filtering all air coming in and out. An air monitoring company will constantly monitor the air quality inside and out throughout the project. There is no danger to any employee working in the facilities. 2. It is that time of year again that Aaron hires an air monitoring company to monitor all buildings for the presence of mold or any other harmful issues. Bill Cain mentioned room 14A that the teacher is always complaining about smells and he requested that the company check out that room. 3. Aaron stated that he has not yet heard for the Centre County Crisis Committee about scheduled spring desktop training for our District. We are to receive this training sometime soon. 4. There are no immediate needs that anyone can think of as far as changes needed to our emergency procedures. 5. Patti questioned about parking issues with the high school project. Aaron will check into this and get back to her about his findings. The next meeting is scheduled for April 27, 2005 at an undetermined location @ 3:00 pm. Meeting adjourned @ 3:40 p.m. |
