  • We Give Books

Information from the Pearson website: http://www.wegivebooks.org/dashboard

We Give Books is a new digital initiative that enables anyone with access to the Internet to put books in the hands of children who don't have them, simply by reading online.

We Give Books combines the joy of reading with the power of helping others, providing a platform for caregivers and educators to inspire children to become lifelong readers and lifelong givers.

We Give Books also helps some of the world's best, most inspiring, literacy organizations by spreading the word about their great work and by providing books to the young people these organizations support.
    How it works

We Give Books is a free website that enables anyone with access to the Internet to put books in the hands of children who don't have them, simply by reading online.

Simply choose the charity you want to read for and then select the books you want to read. For each book you read online, we donate a book to a leading literacy group on your behalf.

The more you read, the more we give.
One way to get started: Choose the literacy organization your online reading will support. Since launching We Give Books in April, we've shared books with a host of great non-profit organizations serving young people across the globe.

Choose to support Room to Read, for example, and your reading at We Give Books will help add books to libraries for young people around the world. Select Jumpstart for Young Children and your reading will help build Jumpstart Reading Libraries in pre-school classrooms across the United States.

Helping to share books with others is a simple way to make a difference. One of our aims is to encourage your child to experience the power that reading brings. As you review the growing list of non-profit organizations from which you can choose, consider taking time to talk through the goals of each charity and your reasons for selecting the one you do. We do it with our children; reading makes them feel more powerful and helpful than ever.

With a literacy campaign selected, it's time to read! You can easily change the literacy initiative you wish to support at any time, and -- once you're a member -- you can move quickly from one campaign to another and even share campaign news with your friends, via your own customized We Give Books dashboard.
Prefer to get started by selecting a book?

Choose a title from our growing digital library and start reading. Once you're book is selected you can then choose the organization on whose behalf you wish to read.

The book you select appears in a special reading window, and you can page through it exactly as you would if you were holding it in your hands.

When you finish reading, you need only to confirm your effort to let us know it's time to share another hardcover or paperback book with a child in need. Read as many books as you like, as many times as you like.

Every campaign has its own donation goal. Once a campaign you've supported reaches its goal, we'll send you and your child a personalized email, thanking you for all your effort.
Your reading at We Give Books helps share books with young people who need them. It also helps the great non-profit organizations with whom we've joined forces to support these young people.

If you like We Give Books, we hope you'll spread the word.

You can share news about campaigns and link to any book in the We Give Books digital library via email, Facebook, or Twitter.

You can also share feedback with us directly by adding your comment to the feedback list you can access on the left-hand side of your computer screen.
