Fifth Grade Binder:

In order to prepare fifth graders for Middle School, students need to learn how to stay organized and prepared every day. To help them, students were given a "Fifth Grade Binder" in which to organize homework, take-home papers, communication from school, assignments, and classroom materials. They are expected to keep materials in their binders neat and organized. The binder contains an assignment book, folders, notebook paper, and other materials that pertain to the classroom. Encourage your child to perform a daily check of their binders to assure they are completing their assignmments and keeping them neat and organized.
Students are handed back work as I grade it. You can keep track of most of your child's grades via the Parent Portal. See the District website to obtain access to the Portal.

Homework:

Students are expected to complete ALL assignments each evening, as consistent completion of homework contributes to a student's final grade. There is no excuse for incomplete or lost homework. If a student does not have their homework completed, they will be required to stay in during recess time to make it up, and the incomplete homework will be noted. I understand that there may be times when family emergencies occur and a student is unable to complete their homework. If this is the case, please send me a note or email explaining the situation. The student will be required to make up the missing assignments as soon as possible. Please understand that after-school commitments (baseball games, dance class, etc.) are not valid excuses for unfinished homework assignments.
