AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT To: Residents of Bellefonte Area School District Effective September 25, 2008, a vacancy exists on the nine-member Board of School Directors of the Bellefonte Area School District. The Board intends to appoint an individual to fill this vacancy through the first Monday of December 2009. For continuity, Board members hope to appoint an individual interested in remaining on the Board of Education. To remain on the Board beyond December 2009, it will be necessary to seek election as a School Board Director. Interested applicants may seek election to continue this position for a four-year term by submitting a petition to be placed on the May ballot. Information on submitting petitions to the Centre County Elections Office is available by calling the Centre County Elections Office at 355-6703. Please contact the Centre County Elections Office at 355-6703, to receive instructions for submitting a petition to be placed on the ballot for election to the Board of Education. According to Pennsylvania law, the appointee must be a citizen of Pennsylvania, of good moral character, at least 18 years of age, and have been a resident of the District for at least one year, and reside within the boundaries of the Bellefonte Area School District prior to his/her appointment. Board members are required to file annual financial interest statements with the State Ethics Commission. The Board invites interested residents of Bellefonte Area School District to apply as a candidate for this open position. Please submit a letter of interest and resume (if available) to include your background and reasons for wishing to serve on the Board. Upon receipt of your interest letter, you will be asked to complete an application. Candidates will be interviewed, and an appointment made at the October 21, 2009, Bellefonte Area School District Board of Education meeting.
